1997, he managed the research project „Long-Term Care in Europe (PflEG)“
financed by the Volkswagen Foundation.
From 1997 through
2001, he managed the research project „The Impact of the German Long-Term
Care Insurance Law on Different Care Arrangement“ financed by DFG
(German Research Foundation).
From 1999 through
2001, he was contractor of an EU-Tempus-Tacis Joint European Project,
and member of the Board, CEIS (Center for European and International
Studies, Ternopil/Ukraine).
Since 2003
he is member of the Board, Institute of Health Policy and Law, Goethe
University Frankfurt a. M.
He served as an outside expert
for the social security (and health) reforms of Poland and Ukraine.
He spent his
sabbaticals at Wharton School (Department of Insurance), UC Santa Barbara
(Department of Economic), Norwegian School of Economics and the University
of Finance in St. Petersburg (where he also had a short-term DAAD-professorship).
